Seafood Heaven

Thursday, 7 July

We woke up in the loft apartment at the BAD B&B (does not live up to it's name) well rested. Priscilla was so eager to check out the fish market yesterday, however we had to postpone it since it closes 2 pm. She was no less eager to check it out this morning, jumping out of bed and ready to leave in 20 min. It was located just two minutes from the B&B. The fresh sea and fish smell covered the whole piazza. Big tunas, swordfish and whatever else one could desire from the sea was for sale. Really cool just to walk around. After a while we got hungry and looked up this restaurant we got recommended, but quickly turned around when we found out that we easily could pay 150 euros for lunch there. We continued walking around when we came across what looked to be a high end fish boutique. We were met by the owner, a really nice guy that tried to tell us all he had to offer in Italian. After nodding and yes'ing for a long time we ended up sitting down at one of the two tables available in the store. We explained to him that as long as we got seafood and white wine, we would be happy. He nodded and went behind the counter and started making the meal. After 15 minutes he presented us with the biggest plate of different delicacies we have ever seen. After one hour we had tried raw shrimps, tuna, sea urchin, squid and more. What an amazing meal!!! So cool too to meet a guy that dedicated to making the best experience for his guests. After finishing up everything together with an excellent white, we took some pictures of Priscilla and the guy behind the counter. I think Priscilla was in seafood heaven at that moment...and it only cost us €50.

We couldn't quite figure out what we wanted to do after that, so pretty full we went back to the B&B for a nap. We ended up sleeping for three or four hours.

Funny how we seem to always think about food, cause when we woke up we were ready for dinner again. We walked around for a bit (and concluded that Catania was a very nice city) ending up at Trattoria Il Mare, a restaurant Priscilla found on trip advisor. A local place with local food. For our last night in Sicily, Priscilla got to taste the salty baked fish, she loved it and promised to make it when we got back to Norway..I was sceptic.

The night finished off at a local bar with a daiquiri. Endlessly tired from all the eating we went home happy, still high on the seafood heaven experience.
