Sunny day at Melbourne

Sunday, November 2nd

This morning Steph and I woke up around 8ish for some girl maintenance appointment, and Natasha was kind enough to drive us.  We went to a lady's house named Gina, and like Natasha puts it, she is lovely.

We then spoke about the day's plan while making our healthy cereal and fruit breakfast.  We even got to sit outside the backyard to eat because it was so warm.  So today is supposed to be the nicest day of our stay here, but it was supposed to rain.  Originally we planned on going to Phillips island to see the little penguins (aka fairy penguins - but they changed the name because the gays didn't like the name), but we decided to give it a miss since we might not see the penguins if it rained and it would be sad to miss the sunny weather. The forecast been saying it's going to be cold and rainy all week.  Blah!

First stop was Chapel Street for some lunch.  It was a very trendy a place to see and be seen.  Steph and Bernice said it looks like Melrose in California.  We ate lunch at Angelucci's and shared a carbonara and salad amongst the four of us.  It was delicious.  Afterwards we did some shopping.  We all love the shops here.  It's casual but different.  Very flowing dresses.  I bought myself a cute little flower dress, maybe will I wear it for Christmas...

We then headed to St Kilda, a place for drinks with cute shops.  It also has the famous Luna Park, the Aussie version of Coney Island.  It even has a dirty beach nearby.  The houses there are very cute with a good mix of different styles. There are malibu style houses next to old french style.  We sat at beachcomber by the beach to have a drink and nachos.  We miss Mexican food, and our wine was nice.  By 5:30pm, we thought it was time to go back to doll up before our dinner at Docklands.

Before dolling up, we had some Aussie Cadbury chocolate and watched some TV.  At around 8:30pm, we thought it was time to really get ready for dinner but we had to first bundle up.  Unfortunately, none of us have the chilly spring wardrobe, so we had to borrow Natasha's clothes.  She got me to wear the first tight pair of skinny jeans.  I'm quite growing into the style.  I might have to get a pair myself when I get back to New York.

Our dinner spot was supposed to be Docklands, similar to South Street Seaport, but because it was too cold there weren't that many people there.  So we decided to have dinner at Lygon St (Little Italy).  We ate at Cafe Cavallino and sat outside with the heat lamps.  Sharing is becoming our staple thing to do, so we shared two yummy pizzas and a chicken salad.  Really hit the spot.

We were all pretty tired from nights of not sleeping.  So it seemed to be wise to try to have one good night of sleep to recover so we can give it our all for Melbourne Cup on Tuesday.  At around 12:30am, we all called it night night.

Oh here are some phrases from Natasha that we love:

For traffic lights in NY, white man is go versus the rest of the world green man is go.  So Natasha sometimes said "White man go" in new york....oooohh probably not taken so well.  Good thing she is white.

Driving to St Kilda, we saw a bumper sticker that says "Jesus loves you". Natasha's response, "Jesus loves me. How nice."

On Melbourne radio, there's a show that people call in to dedicate songs to their loved one, but the hosts mocks them when they call.  For instance, a guy will call and say, I dedicate this song to my girlfriend and I really love her.  The host would say, how nice.  How long have you dated her?  The guy would reply, three days.  The host would mock the caller by saying, you really got to know her in three days.  It must be true love.  Maybe my story is not paying justice to it, but you get the gist.  Natasha really wants her boy friend to call the show.  So she decided she will request it on her birthday, "The only thing I want for my birthday is for you to look like idiot.". Hahaha
